It's less than a week till our third annual BOO Grass Scare Dance. It's shaping up to be another great dance.
This year we have The Moonshiners playing the final set, rippin' up some bluegrass. Check out their photo, taken by Leya Tess.
As always we have Dan Weisenburger starting off the night and helping us make things sound nice all night long. YOMADA is happy to have Fraea the Banshee playing a special set this year. Can't forget about YOMADA's House Stringband playing old time tunes for your square dancing pleasure.
Be sure to get there at 7:00pm so you don't miss any of the action!
YOMADA had a fun summer on the Wind-Powered Tour with The Stowaway Stringband. We played two square dances this summer: one at a fundraiser sending high school students to Bolivia and the other at a beautiful wedding outside Courtney.
The YOMADA House String Band played the Sooke River Bluegrass Festival back in June as the band for the Big Top Square Dance. Best dance of the year! We hope to be a part of that fantastic festival next year.
The Pennyless Duo, Damian Ritchie and Lisa Feeney, have just arrived back in Victoria from a train journey to and from Toronto as the on-board entertainment. Lots of music, beautiful scenery, and a brand new banjo!
YOMADA is working on the BOO Grass Scare Dance II. More to come on date and location.
Sunday nights are CANCELLED at the Ocean Island Backpacker's Inn. We had two great jams there this season, but a new events coordinator has rained on our parade. Let us know of any places where YOMADA could have a bluegrass jam in Victoria.
The old-time jam at the Solstice Cafe begins Wednesday, October 23rd. Looking forward to sharing tunes we've learned over the summer months!
